Our Story
Our Story: Why I Built Woodknots + Whimsy
I didn't start as a formulator. I started as a woman whose body was failing her and I needed to do something about it.
At 35, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease. Then came blood thinners. I was managing a chronic condition while raising three boys with their own complex needs. Before that: an ectopic pregnancy, a tubal ligation, emergency surgeries from a hysterectomy at 38. Endometriosis dismissed as "just bad periods." And then perimenopause hit.
Then I found doctors who actually saw me. Who named what was happening. Who took my struggles seriously. That care changed everything. And I realized: not all women should have to wait that long to be heard. That's when I knew what I needed to do. Give women that feeling of being seen, even in a product.
What I Discovered
I started researching. I studied magnesium's role in muscle function, nerve signaling, sleep, hormonal health. How plants support the body through transitions. Why certain formulations matter for postpartum recovery, for perimenopause, for nervous system overwhelm.
I realized: the gap wasn't in self-care. It was in actual recovery support, products built for a body that's actually under load.
So I started formulating for her. For the woman still going. For the woman whose shoulders won't unclench, whose sleep is broken, whose nervous system feels overwhelmed, whose body needs support that acknowledges what she's carrying.
What Woodknots + Whimsy Is
Every product is formulated with intention. Our core products address three states: when your body feels tense and overwhelmed, when you need support falling and staying asleep, when you're in recovery. Magnesium, botanicals, and formulations grounded in real physiology, not aesthetics or trends.
We're not trying to be everything to everyone. We're focused on what women's bodies actually need during transitions.
We exist to support your body during the moments that matter. So you can keep going.
