I went for a walk in on a cold 30 degree day to realign my intentions and energy in the universe. Everything felt off, my energy was wonky, my ability to focus was clouded and I felt the need to do something to help me get out of my own way. All of my efforts up to this point hadn't really been what I needed to recenter.

So I turned to the Self-Care shuffle to take the lead and give me a random idea to take time out for myself. My pick was to take a walk in the cold. First off, I am not a big lover of the cold. I won't even get out of bed on cold days until someone turns the fireplace on in the family room. I use a heavy faux mink blanket year round.  So the idea of going out in the cold for more then walking to my car or inside a store was not my favorite, but I did it anyways.

Here's what happened. I chose to walk a trail close to our home in the early morning hours on a Sunday. I set my phone timer for 30 minutes, which meant I would be outside for an hour round-trip, and started listening to Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert.

The further I walked and the more I listened the fog began to clear and my mind was more receptive to what the universe wanted to me to experience. A few new ideas began to flow, new perspectives on current obstacles became clearer and a few projects patiently waiting for my attention whispered "is my time?".  Not all of the ideas that pop in your head will make it to the finish line, some will be scrapped, and others wait for their moment. It's like when someone you want to work with says "Now is not the best time but I would love to revisit this in the future." Things were beginning to get a little clearer. That walk didn't solve everything but it did help with a few things. I ran home and jotted down everything that was flowing thru me and reminded myself:

"If it is meant to be it is up to me." -Maya and the Three

I use a lot of quotes from kids shows and movies. One day I'll explain why, but for now know that this is one of my favorites.

What do you do to refocus when your mind is clouded?
